My man of the match: Bellamy

Today, as always the derby game lived up to expectations, I on many occasions was on the edge of my sit, sweating with anxiety. Being the League Cup I don't fully understand why I was so anxious to see United go through, and I'm certainly not a big derby man. I generally think as long as we win the match or the trophy I'm a happy bunny! There was definitely a lot of build up to the game and I believe to much pressure on the still young yet brilliant Wayne Rooney. After the Hull game everywhere it the football world I was seeing 'Wayne to be firing United through to the final against City' now sometimes I think it can be a good way to give a player confidence but some players buckle under the pressure, it's happened many a time. Well anyway let us get to the actual game. United got of to a rather quick start, forcing 6 corners in the first 15 minutes or so but for the next 20 minutes City started to get into a rhythm, though no real opportunities arose for either teams. We entered the second half and what a half it was, tempers flying and emotions rising. As the time ticked away the players and the fans got more and more anxious. Then hits, Paul Scholes with his first League Cup goal in 7 years and only his 9th out of 146 goals of his prestigious career. The assist coming from Michael Carrick. Bit of a scruffy goal, the ball going around in and around the box, Carrick managed to get a poke out to Scholesy who manages to drive the ball into the far corner beating Shay Given in the process. For the next 25 minutes United dominated, Citys heads drop as if they were losing 5-0. During that time there was a bit of a scuffle between Darren Fletcher and Michah Richards which was very well defused by the referee Howard Webb, who I believe had a great game although there was no major/match changing decisions to be made. A mere 2 minutes after the scuffle Fletcher got the assist for Michael Carricks goal, very similar to the first just this time it was Carrick to provide the finishing touch knocking it into the inside of the far post and in. But of course, 5 minutes later there was more drama when Carlos Tevez scores a lucky yet very skillful and inventive finish by the Argentinian, Craig Bellamy getting the assist with a cross from the left wing. This was just a couple of minutes after Rooney missing a sitter when he tried to wrong foot Given by going the near post which he did fantastically but unfortunately managed to miss the target. It was almost all City for the next 10 minutes but as in the first half it was mainly City but no real opportunities coming for either teams. Which leads us to the last 5 minutes of normal time and the 3 minutes which where to be added on, everyone, including myself assuming it would go to the 30 minutes added time and possibly even the always dramatic and heart wrenching penalty shootout. But Rooney after missing that sitter earlier must have been more than happy to score this one managing to power a header past Given assist coming from Ryan Giggs with a inswinging cross on the right wing not long after a corner earned after Given made a fantastic save to deny Fletcher. All round I think this was a very dramatic and fantastically enthralling match to watch, even for the neutrals. Was defiantly great to get another up on City, they are now 34 years without winning a major trophy which for a pretty good team is some going! Well I'm sure I've mumbled on a bit too much hope you like my very first review, I'm going to apologize for my poor vocabulary, I was never any good at English. If anyone watched the match feel free to add to what I have put or challenge my Man Of The Match, I personally believe he had a brilliant game against us, which is unfortunately seeming to become a bit of a habit for him. Thankfully he didn't hit the target today. Please tell me on any way I can make these reviews any better and more enjoyable for you all to read.
